My Great Great Grandfather David O'Reilly
The family of my Great Great Grandfather David O'Reilly and of my Great Great Grandmother Elizabeth Noble. I am guessing that John Albert, the priest standing in the middle at the back, is at least 25 years old. Since he was born in 1875, the photo must be after 1900. The 3 young ones in the front are grandchildren of David and Elizabeth. If the photo was taken around 1900, my Grandfather Johnny Côté would have been 3 years old. Was this photo taken shortly before or shortly after 1900 ? And if so, is my Grandfather Johnny Côté one of the children in the photo ? And if so, is my Great Grandmother Mary Ann O'Reilly the woman second from the left in the back ? Photos of David O'Reilly's family bible
My Great Great Grandfather David O'Reilly gave his bible to his daughter, my Great Grandmother Mary-Ann O'Reilly. Then, Mary-Ann O'Reilly gave the bible to her son, my Grandfather Johnny Côté. During a visit in Val-Brillant in 1972, my Grandfather Johnny Côté gave me the bible. He had 11 children and 52 grandchildren, and he chose me to inherit the bible. What an honour !
I found a lock of hair in the bible of my Great Great Grandfather David O'Reilly. Do they belong to one of my ancesters.... and who ?
The resting place of my Great Great Grandfather David O'Reilly and of my Great Great Grandmother Elizabeth Noble at the Amqui cemetery. It should be noted that the place of birth of Elizabeth Noble is indicated on the tombstone as Restigouche, but other documents indicate that she was born in Causapscal. I believe the documents because Elizabeth's parents, my Great Great Great Grandfather Jonathan Noble and my Great Great Great Grandmother Brigitte O'Reilly moved from Restigouche to Causapscal in 1839, two years before the birth of Elizabeth Noble. It should also be noted that the date of birth of David O'Reilly is indicated as March 1834 on the tombstone, but I have in my posession David O'Reilly's bible, and it is written in it that David O'Reilly was born on 21 March 1832. |
